“When we lose twenty pounds…we may be losing the best twenty pounds we have! We may be losing the pounds that contain our genius, our humanity, our love and honesty.”

Well probably this has been the very idea, contributing to  the  zealous efforts by the natives of these countries, catapulting  them to  surge ahead and put their beloved nations onto this docket. Some claim that the reason behind this abnormal rate of growing the so called glutton-ism is the dawn of the era of consumerism, some claim it to the copiousness  of prevalent resources in some parts of the world, and some also owe it to the individualistic  hedonism.

Well talking about world’s top 10 fattest countries of the world, the measure itself is not complete in all respects. It has to be explained if the talk is about obesity or something else. The content below relates to the top 10 fattest countries of the world. It is a very comprehensive list dealing with every detail of the country ranging from the taste of its people to its cuisine. The following is a list of the top 10 most fatty countries.

10. FINLAND

Finland

Being the  most  sparsely populated country of the EU, Finland  clearly shows the obsession of the people with food. The recent statistics and researches have brought to government’s attention the problem of obesity and appreciable steps have been taken but the results of this yet need to be seen!

9. LUXEMBOURG

Luxembourg

Luxembourg, also known as the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg officially, is a landlocked country of the Europe. It is bordered by Belgium to the west and north, by Germany to the east, and by France to the south.“Hallo!” -From the least populated country of the EU and yet being one the one ,boasting for  its big bellies. Yes ! its Luxembourg which makes it at the 9th position with an obesity rate of 22.1%.With cuisines inspired from Belgium, Germany, France, Italy and Portugal , being a giant producer of a wide variety of wines ,and the highest per capita consumption of beer in the world ,the country definitely makes it to the list.

8. IRELAND

ireland

Ireland is an island to the northwest of  Europe. It is the third-largest island in Europe. To its east lies the island of Great Britain, from which it is separated by the Irish Sea. It is infact the twentieth-largest island on Earth. The second fattest amongst the EU countries and number 8th all over the world. “Céad Mile Fáilte” Ireland! The obesity rate of 23% renders it to this list. Researchers have concluded that the obesity rates have more than doubled in the European countries and   it is definitely  the time to be wary of the consequences. The insouciant attitude towards personal fitness and modern lifestyles have led  to the this injudicious rise in obesity rates in the European Union. But here’s a moment to rejoice -Ireland has seen a fall in premature deaths by 50pc, greater than the EU average. “Erin go Bragh !”

7. United Kingdom

6. CANADA

canada

It consists of 10 provinces and 3 territories. The  Haute Monde  lifestyle, coupled with high per capita income,”the -ever -ready -to –serve- you” counters of KFC,McDonalds, add to it the sedentary lifestyle, inexpensive packaged food, and instragience when it comes to exercise and here you have the 6th fattest country of the world with an obesity rate of 24.2%. The city of Ontario is overpopulated with obese people.Much onus is being been laid on the government and the educational institutions to help abridge the situation.

5. AUSTRALIA

australia

It is a continent in itself basically but is called a country. It is surrounded by seas on all the sides. Its definitely not for the first time for our Aussies, after taking over the U.S. for the world’s fattest country in 2008,the flummox still continues. Obesity is more like an epidemic here and the governments are doing their best to curb it but the numbers just won’t reduce. This  country of golden beaches is laden with this unnecessary evil, with the rate as high as 24.6%. and being ranked as number 5th on the list.

4. CHILE

chile

It is surrounded by the Andes mountains in the west and by the pacific ocean in the west. With this country occupying a” narrow” coastline on the map of South America, the acquirement on this  list is laudable and the obesity rate of 25.1% and taking  an envious 4th place on the list, is really something !But with the position of one of the largest exporters of wine and seafood of the world we can surely give it some points.

3. NEW ZEALAND

new zealand

“Yeah!” not a very picturesque sight to imagine the land of those beautiful and fragile ferns being termed as the 3rd Fattest Country of the world, but with an obesity rate of  26.5% for sure  startles us. The average Kiwi was estimated to weigh 81.3kg last year, lighter only than the average American, who weighed 82.7kg. The kiwis are also obese for that matter!

2. USA

usa

It consists of 50 states and one fedral republic.“No no!”..our champions of the last year do not lag behind, if at all ,it was a slip from the ace position. Nevertheless they definitely have made as  the 2nd fattest country of the world. With an obesity rate of  31.8%.With a third of its population suffering from obesity, the country surely shows that its population is literally  one of the biggest consumers of the world. The most developed and resourceful country also claims for the biggest bellies of the world

1. MEXICO

mexico

It is the 10th largest producer of oil in the world. It is the largest producer of silver in the world. And a “cariñosa!” to our very first entrant on the list- yeah! its an “Aye Aye!” for MEXICO, who attains a” Numero Uno” after surpassing the USA who seemed to have retained this spot for quite some time now, with an obesity rate of 32.8%..Attributing to the rapid urban development, easy availability of cheap junk food in the market, and invasions of fast food chains like the Mcdonalds  from the U.S the country has first time in the history trounced its predecessor to the acquire throne .While an overawing theory given by Dr. Abelardo Avila  states  that  the hoi polloi that were once malnourished people are the ones who are turning obese, one  definitely cannot outlaw the luscious and savoury Mexican cuisine.
